Meet Helen

Whether you’ve just brought home a puppy or taken in a new dog, you may now be left thinking, “Wow… this is a lot.”

Let me tell you, you're not alone and this is completely normal. There’s so much advice out there, that it often feels overwhelming knowing which way to turn.

That’s exactly why I started Wainwright’s Canine Academy. I'm here to debunk the myths and guide you in the right direction, seeing things from the dog's perspective.

Qualified at level four in canine behaviour modification, I am here to help resolve any challenges you may be facing. I’ll walk you through what matters, what doesn’t, and how to feel more confident in the choices you’re making for you and your dog.

My approach is kind and force-free, grounded in trust, not control. Together, we’ll work on building a firm understanding of the "why" behind dog behaviour, creating a stronger bond between you and your dog.

Dog photography

What if your dog didn’t have to “pose” at all to get beautiful photos?

Most dogs don’t love standing still for the camera. That’s exactly why my sessions are completely dog-led. With years of dog-training experience, I know how to create calm, safe moments where their real personality shines without any pressure.

clare and Winnie the Lab

"From the get-go, Helen was superb. She has an abundance of love for dogs. She speaks their language, she communicates their thoughts and she is instrumental in developing a rewarding relationship between dog and owner."

"Helen from WCA has helped us over a few sessions. I feel much more confident of what to do in different circumstances when out walking with Murphy as a result of the training Helen has given me."

German Shepherd belonging to a dog training client, calm and settled outdoors

Jo and beaudi the german shepherd

"Everyday life is easier for us - the most important thing is that Beaudi now feels safe and comfortable in the world around her. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Helen to anyone struggling with their dog."
